As one of the pioneers in manufacturing diesel engines in the country with a heritage of more than 65 years, TMTL Engines Division envisages growing exponentially in the power generation segment by providing cutting edge technology, best fuel efficiency, and low cost of ownership. In 2005, Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE) acquired the tractors, gears, transmission and engines business from Eicher Motors Limited through its wholly owned subsidiary TAFE Motors and Tractors Limited (TMTL). Along with the plant and machinery, TAFE also acquired the right to use the Eicher Engines brand name for engines up to 46.8 hp (35 kVA).
Through technical collaboration with companies such as Ricardo Consulting (UK), Sisu Diesel and Vatah (Finland), a new range of Engines from 82.3 HP to 160 HP was developed and marketed under the TMTL Engines brand name. Currently both Eicher Engines (5 kVA to 35 kVA) and TMTL Engines (40 kVA to 125 kVA) are being sold under the umbrella brand of E-TMTL.
With an emphasis to meet global standards of quality and productivity, TMTL Engines Division employs quality management tools like TQM, TPM, SGA and Kaizen extensively. The engines plant at Alwar is certified under ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018.
